About Dr. Ambedkar MissionDr. Ambedkar Mission is a premier Non- Governmental organization of North Eastern Region of India. It was established in the year 1994-95 at a small village namely Dhopatari near Changsari, 15kms far from Guwahati in Kamrup district of Assam. It is a voluntary Social Service Organization with a managing Committee consisting eleven members including the President and Secretary. The organization has been registered under the Society Registration Act XXI of 1860. It has two Branch Offices (i) Vill. Upahupara ( Industrial Chowk) Dist. Darrang ( Assam ) and (ii0 Vill. Umroi, P.o. Borapani, Ri- Bhoi district of Meghalaya. It has been doing various social work under a few welfare schemes financed by Govt. of India for the last eight years for upliftment of weaker sections.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar (April 14, 1891 — December 6, 1956), also known as Babasaheb, was an Indian nationalist, jurist, Dalit political leader and a Buddhist revivalist. He was also the chief architect of the Indian Constitution. Born into a poor Untouchable family, Ambedkar spent his whole life fighting against social discrimination, the system of Chaturvarna — the Hindu categorization of human society into four varnas — and the Indian caste system. He is also credited with having sparked the Dalit Buddhist movement. Ambedkar has been honoured with the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award.
Overcoming numerous social and financial obstacles, Ambedkar became one of the first "untouchables" to obtain a college education in India.
